Hey Guys,

I thought it was about time for a little bit of an update..

Well it's been a very busy last few weeks and some massive changes have been taking place. My RM-Z250 rocked up from Ray Moore Motorcycles in Kalgoorlie.
After a little bit of riding I've discovered just how different the quad is compared to the 2 wheeler. I keep moving my weight off the seat into corners.. apparently that doesn't have the same effect.

So it's back to basics for now... Keep plugging away

Hey Guys,

Well last week I did my first ever photoshoot with a little local company, Grovton Photography. My photographer Katie Groves was beyond an absolute please to work with, she's down to earth, caring and so easy to talk to, it makes coming up with creative ideas fantastic! Lilly Sandon was the stylist for the shoot and she went above and beyond setting up looks with accessories and piecing everything together. I also had an amazing hair stylist, Hayley Crispin and a fantastic make up artist, Sarah Elizabeth Spence. Without these two transforming me I don't know where we would have ended up!

I've never done anything like this before and after the whole experience, I highly recommend it! Fantastic value for money, it’s an experience I will never forget, and photos I’ll have forever

Ride On #22

It's coming up to a year now my friend, we are all still thinking of you everyday. Hope your ripping it upstairs with the big dog.

For everyone that was fortunate enough to meet Abia would know how passionate he was about his beloved sport, and how he would not have us to wallow in sorry, but instead grab every opportunity and to take that inside line and make that impossible pass.
Abia was a quite achiever, never wanting the spotlight, but was always giving it his all. He rode with the tenacity and skill that would rival the best, but still was so gracious to all the rest. His smile was contagious and his humour was subtle, but his skills where silky and his style was smooth, people knew when “Abia” was on stage.

Words cannot express the feelings that we have and words cannot undo the undoable,
Tears of sorry may stain our face and the pain of heartfelt sorry may pierce our hearts, but the memory of one of the most wonderful and sincere riders that graced our tracks will never fade.

Our friend may have gone but our bond has grown stronger

Hanging up My Quad Boots

After much thought, many arguments and alot of consideration, I have decided not to continue to race the rest of the 2011 WAMX season on the Legend Quad's LTR450. At this point in time I need to take a step back away from the quad scene and focus on matters close to home.

My plan is to hold onto the LTR, just in case anything should change in the future, but I'm also investing in a RMZ250 and I'm going to make the switch onto 2 wheels and learn how to ride a different kind of dirt bike.

Although in the grand scheme of things I have not been riding long, the success I have achieved and the amazing people I have met along the way have been nothing short of spectacular.

From the early days of riding my TRX250 with the 85cc class at KEMXC club days, through to racing my first Pro Open Northwest round in the Pilbara, and driving 3 days to Murray Bridge for the 2009 nationals hoping for a top 10 finish and coming away with #2. This journey has opened my eyes to the possibilities we as individuals have and just how much you can get out if you put the effort in.

We will be recognized as athletes, but remembered as individuals, going as big in life as we do in sport.
We put everything we've got into everything we do. We admit when it hurts, contribute more than we take, and laugh by the butt load.
Not knowing we can is the best reason to try. So attack it head on and put it all out there.
Life's more fun full. So here's to new adventures

I want to thanks my parents, my family, my friends and of course my sponsors for all the support and encouragement they have given me over the last 5 years. They say motocross is an individual sport, but its the teams behind the riders which truly make the sports champions. Without you all I would have never dreamed of a national title, or even trying to race at the top level in Australia.

Watch out for me on the track, because I will be back, on 2 wheels or 4 .. I'll just have to keep you all guessing.

WAMX State Championship Round 1 - Kalgoorlie 25/04/2011

WAMX State Championship Round 1 - Kalgoorlie 25/04/2011 Race Report:

Round One of the WAMX State Championship was held on Monday the 25th of April with an all quad day to kick start the season. The weather was sunny and hot and the track conditions were amazing.
There was a good turn out of riders, with 8 girls making the journey.
2011 is the first season the girls class has had more than one round and is a great opportunity to progress the profile of females in the sport.

I was very worried about my wrist injury, my surgery to pin the bones back together was only 3 weeks ago and I was still not back to full strength. After not having ridden for over 2 months you could say bike confidence wasn't at an all time high.

After practice, alot of nurofen, voltaren gel and strapping I decided to race the day.
My starts were great in all 3 moto's coming second out of the corner each race. Unfortunately I wasn't able to hold onto that position and finished with a 3rd, 5th and 5th. I was happy with my results simply because all I needed to do was finish all of the moto's.

Congrats to Bernice for taking out the day with three 1st places and Sarah and Caitlin for stepping up into the seniors with great results :)

The KEMXC is gearing up for a massive season in 2011, kicking off their first club day last weekend. The Karratha Northwest round will be held in just under 4 weeks and preperations are underway.

The club will also be running the open event the "Karratha Challenge" and is looking to go bigger and better than last year. KARRATHA CHALLENGE 2011 WILL BE HELD ON JULY 10TH

Hey Guys,

I've been in Perth last week seeing the surgeons and they have taken off my cast and given me the go ahead to start moving the wrist again :)

Hopefully this means I will be able to race the first WA State Title round in Kalgoorlie over Easter.

I know all the riders around the state are gearing up and getting ready for a massive event.

Injury Update (29/03/2011)

Well after a run around with doctors, I finally got down to Royal Perth Hospital last Wednesday for surgery. The doctors tell me it went well, and with my arm in a cast I guess I'll have to take their word for it. They used a plate and several screws to put my radius bone back into place. I'm back in Perth for a check up in 2 weeks, so I'll keep you all updated. For now, my season is on hold.

Newman Memorial (5/6th March 2011)

The Newman Memorial is an annual event hosted by the Newman Moto X Club in the Pilbara of Western Australia. It attracts many state riders as a season opener and the event put on by the club is amazing, every year the memorial is one not to be missed.

The Memorial event is the result of an ambitious undertaking by the Miles-Woodland family, in conjunction with the Newman Motorcycle Club Inc, to stage a supercross style night event in 2006.
Once the first Memorial had grabbed the community attention, the Miles-Woodlands and Newman Motorcycle Club set their sights on the ultimate prize…permanent track lighting.

However, my Memorial this year didn't make it past the first race. I got caught up with another rider over a table top and came off second best. Like the saying goes "rubins racin". I was sent in the ambulance straight to the hospital and unfortunately missed most of the night. I had broken my right wrist, to what extent I wasn't aware of yet.

2010 Season

I have to start by thanking my sponsors: Legend Quad Services, Bez Engineering and Elders Real Estate. Without their support I wouldn't have been able to achieve my most successful season to date. It also wouldn't have been possible without the love and support from my family. My dad: my trainer, my mechanic, my psychologist, my mentor. My mum: my nutritionalist, my emotional support, my biggest fan. Thanks just aren’t enough.

The WA State Title (08/05/2010)
The WA Women's ATV State Title was held at the Jindong Track on May 8th.
This was the first state title I had ever competed in, to say I was nervous would be an understatement. When we arrived there was quads everywhere, more than I'd ever seen at an event. I thought it was really fantastic :) We had 11 girls on the grid, most of who I had never met before.
Race 1 was the most interesting. Bernice beat me out of the gate for the holeshot. She is such a talent rider and blocks her lines so well, it took me a long time to make a pass and get around her.
Race 2 and 3 were mostly uneventful, I holeshoted both races and rode through for the race win easily. I find it much better when I have clean air.
We finished off the weekend with a 1-1-1 finish and my first ever state title :)

Australian Institute of Sport (13/09/2010-16/09/2010)
In September I was lucky enough to attend a camp at the AIS in Canberra, hosted by Motorcycling Australia. If you ever have the chance to go check this place out, I highly recommend it. World class facilities, trainers and athletes, I certainly felt out of place.
We learnt about nutrition, fitness training, mental focus, recovery and marketing and people skills.

Australian ATV Championship (16/10/2010 & 17/10/2010)

The national titles in 2010 were held at the Jindong track in October. Which was lucky for me, considering Jindong is the only southern track I’ve raced and it suited me nicely as a hard pack rider. The entire even ran smoothly and is a credit to the team at Southern Capes Motocross Club.

I won’t bore you too much with the details, but after a flat tire in moto 4 and a crash in moto 5 I managed to finish 1-1-1-1-2 and come away with my first ever Australian title.

2010 was an amazing season for myself and my sponsors. My more minor achievements include winning the pro open northwest title and also taking home Junior Sportsperson of the year for the Shire of Roebourne. Towards the end of the season I was working with an amazing personal trainer, Sarah Jesser and I credit all of my fitness at nationals to her. I was also lucky enough to have the full support of the Karratha Enduro and Motocross club and all of its members who help me succeed at every local club day J I have to thank Jordan Dummett for all the overtime he put into building my bike and also his family for taking me in and helping me out. There were so many people behind me in 2010 I cannot thank you enough. Hope I did you proud.
